Our Flight Instructor Training program is designed to provide you with the skills, knowledge, and confidence necessary to become a successful flight instructor. Prerequisites
- RA-Aus Pilot Certificate
- Class 2 CASA Medical
- RPC Cross Country Endorsement
- RPC Passenger Endorsement
- RPC Radio Endorsement
- RPC Human Factors
- 100hrs as PIC of a recreational aircraft.

What our Course Includes
Our Flight Instructor Rating (FIR) Course is broken down into three main components:
- Principles and Methods of Instruction (PMI)
- Classroom Briefings
- Instructor In-Flight Training
- Principles and Methods of Instruction (PMI)
PMI is a theory course which takes approximately 8 – 10 hours to complete that looks at a range of topics including; the best ways to teach people, how different individuals learn, and some of the difficulties associated with teaching. All skills that will be developed throughout the rest of the Instructor Rating Course.
- Classroom Briefings
The classroom briefings entails a minimum 30 hours ground instruction that ensures your knowledge levels are up to an instructing standard as well as help you develop ways to present and deliver your wealth of knowledge. Two types of briefings are focused on, long briefs and pre-flight briefs. Not only will you deliver briefs yourself but also see first hand how our instructors deliver and prepare for student briefs.
- Instructor In-Flight Training
Finally you will learn how to deliver lessons in flight, with a minimum of 20 hours of instructor flight training to be conducted by a Senior Instructor or the Chief Flying Instructor. During your in flight training, you will be shown how to demonstrate, direct and provide critique to students in all flying sequences required for students to receive their Recreational Pilot Certificate.
Finishing Touches
At the completion of this course, you will be examined and issued your rating by a Recreational Aviation Pilot Examiner.
